Itabus Expands Internationally with New Routes to Slovenia and Croatia

06 nov 2024

Starting October 16, Itabus, a long-distance bus company, will launch new routes to Ljubljana and Zagreb, marking its first international expansion.
This move is part of a broader European growth strategy that may include France, Austria, and Hungary by 2025.
The company aims to enhance intermodal travel by integrating its 100 buses with Italo's 51 high-speed trains.
Daily connections will link major Italian cities to these new destinations, with options for morning and overnight travel.
Additionally, Itabus will expand its network to include Rome's Fiumicino and Venice's Marco Polo airports, offering increased connectivity with 30 daily train+bus connections.

Itabus Expands Internationally with New Routes to Slovenia and Croatia

Itabus, a long-distance bus company affiliated with the high-speed train group Italo, is set to expand its services beyond Italy.
From October 16, the company will begin operating routes to Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Zagreb, Croatia.
This marks the first step in a planned European expansion that could see Itabus entering markets in France, Austria, and Hungary by 2025.
Currently, Itabus operates a fleet of 100 buses, working in conjunction with Italo's 51 trains, to provide travelers with a more intermodal travel experience.
The new routes to Ljubljana and Zagreb will offer six daily connections (three outbound and three return) from mid-October, linking major Italian cities such as Naples, Rome, Florence, Bologna, Ferrara, Padua, Venice, Trieste, Verona, Milan, and Turin to these European capitals.
Two main routes will serve these destinations: one originating from Naples and Rome with four daily trips, and another from Turin/Milan with two daily services.
Given the tourist appeal of these destinations, Itabus will also stop at Venice and Bergamo Orio al Serio airports.
Travelers can choose between morning departures (from Rome at 10 AM or Milan at 8: 15 AM) to arrive in the evening or opt for overnight journeys to maximize travel time.
An alternative travel option includes train+bus connections, allowing passengers to travel with a single ticket.
Travelers can reach Venice Mestre by Italo train and continue their journey with a dedicated Itabus service, and vice versa for the return trip.
In terms of airport connectivity, the new autumn schedule will incorporate Rome's Fiumicino and Venice's Marco Polo airports into the Itabus network.
Fiumicino will be served with 12 daily connections, featuring evening departures (from 7: 05 PM to 11 PM) to a wide range of central and southern destinations, including Ancona, Perugia, Naples, Cosenza, Crotone, Bari, and Lecce.
For those traveling to the capital's airport, services will arrive between 4: 05 AM and 8: 45 AM, allowing passengers to catch early flights.
The Venice airport will see six daily connections linking it to major northern Italian cities like Turin, Milan, Padua, and Trieste.
The intermodal travel options with Italo trains will also expand, offering 30 train+bus connections daily with the convenience of a single ticket.
