Haiki+, a leading player in the recycling industry, has announced a significant investment of €30 million in recycling plants by 2026.
Following its decision to go public on the Egm segment in 2025 through a proportional demerger from its parent company Innovatec, Haiki+ is set to expand its recycling capabilities.
The company has already inaugurated a €5 million plant in Lazzate and is on the verge of launching a gypsum recycling facility in Lodi.
Additionally, Haiki+ has acquired and is upgrading a plant in Isacco, with plans to operationalize it by late 2025.
The company is also focusing on specialized end-of-waste plants, including projects for textile waste and mattress recycling, supported by Pnrr funds.
Haiki+ is tackling the electronic waste and battery recycling sectors and pioneering landfill mining.
With a workforce of 400 employees, the company reported a revenue of €165 million in 2023 and aims to reach €229 million by the end of 2024.
Haiki+, a prominent entity in the recycling sector, has set its sights on a substantial investment of €30 million in recycling infrastructure by 2026.
This ambitious plan follows the company's announcement to list on the Egm segment in 2025, a move that will be facilitated through a proportional demerger from its parent company, Innovatec, expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
In June, Haiki+ marked a significant milestone by inaugurating a €5 million recycling plant in Lazzate, Monza Brianza.
This facility is designed to process 50,000 tonnes of non-hazardous special waste annually.
The company's CEO highlighted the upcoming launch of another innovative plant in Lodi, which will focus on gypsum recovery.
This plant, with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year, represents a novel approach in Italy for this type of refinement.
The authorization process was completed six months ago, and the company is now awaiting the final values from Arpa to define the end-of-waste status.
The plant is expected to be operational by the end of the year, utilizing proprietary patented technology and an automated process to achieve 100% gypsum recovery.
The recovered gypsum will be transformed into various additives for cement production, gypsum manufacturing, and the chemical industry, with several companies already expressing interest.
In July, Haiki+ expanded its footprint by acquiring a plant in Isacco, Cremona, with an annual capacity of 80,000 tonnes.
The facility is currently undergoing renovations and is slated to be fully operational by the second half of 2025.
Presently, Haiki+ operates ten plants across Italy, with two more in the authorization phase.
The CEO emphasized the importance of specialized end-of-waste plants, moving away from generalist facilities to more focused, industry-specific sites.
This strategy aligns with the company's project for a textile waste recovery site, which is awaiting the implementation of the extended producer responsibility (Epr) principle and the mandatory adherence to a sector consortium.
A subsidiary of Haiki+ dedicated to textile recycling has initiated the authorization process for a plant in Novara, which will benefit from Pnrr funds and is expected to commence operations soon.
Additionally, Haiki+ is planning a new site in Palazzolo Vercellese for mattress end-of-waste processing, also supported by Pnrr funding.
Haiki+ is also making strides in the electronic waste and battery recycling sectors, focusing on both lead and lithium batteries.
The company aims to establish comprehensive recycling chains that span from waste collection to product creation.
However, the CEO pointed out the challenges faced in Italy, particularly the lengthy and complex authorization processes for innovative plants, despite recent efforts to streamline these procedures.
On the pioneering front, Haiki+ is venturing into landfill mining.
The company is awaiting the final authorization to commence operations at the Bedizzole landfill in Brescia.
The goal is to extract and recover materials from the landfill, subsequently filling the void with new non-recyclable waste.
This project is expected to be operational by 2025.
Currently, Haiki+ employs 400 people and reported a revenue of €165 million in 2023.
The company projects a significant increase in revenue, aiming to close 2024 with €229 million.
This growth trajectory underscores Haiki+'s commitment to advancing recycling technologies and contributing to a sustainable circular economy.
