Bonatti Group has secured a significant contract with EDF to build Corsica's first biofuel power plant, marking a milestone in sustainable energy.
This €500 million project will replace the old power station in Ajaccio, providing 100% renewable energy with minimal environmental impact.
The plant will be operational by 2027,contributing to Bonatti's record order backlog and expanding workforce.
The company is also eyeing future projects in Libya,Ravenna, and EastMed,leveraging its expertise in complex energy solutions.

The Bonatti Group, based in Parma, has been awarded a landmark contract to construct Corsica's first biofuel power plant.
This €500 million agreement with Electricité de France (EDF) involves the design, procurement, construction, and management of a green facility in Ajaccio.
The plant will provide the entire island with renewable energy, utilizing sustainable vegetable fuel to achieve a 100% renewable energy output and a 90% reduction in water consumption.
The new facility will seamlessly integrate into the landscape, allowing for the decommissioning of the existing power station, which has been operational since 1982.
Andrea Colombo,CEO of Bonatti, highlighted the significance of this project as the company's first venture into biofuel power plants.
The contract was secured after a competitive bidding process lasting over two years, showcasing Bonatti's engineering and technological prowess.
The project is a collaboration with German manufacturer Man Energy Solution, which will supply eight new-generation engines, each with a capacity of 16 MW,and local suppliers for specific electrical and civil works.
The Corsican project, currently in the design phase,is set for completion in 2027.
This development, along with recent acquisitions, has propelled Bonatti's order backlog to a record €4.8 billion, significantly surpassing its historical average of €1.5 billion.
The company anticipates exceeding €1 billion in revenue this year, ahead of its 2026 target, following a robust 2023 performance with €850 million in revenue and a 21% increase from the previous year.
Bonatti's workforce has expanded to 8,950 employees, with 600 based in Italy, reflecting the growing importance of the domestic market, which now accounts for 15% of the group's revenue.
The Corsican biofuel plant will employ 700 people, and construction in Mexico is expected to commence by the end of the year, despite previous delays due to electoral uncertainties.
Looking ahead,Bonatti is preparing for new opportunities in Libya,a market it has been involved with since 1978,and is interested in participating in the CO2 storage project in Ravenna, developed by Eni and Snam.
The company is also part of a consortium for the EastMed pipeline project, which involves laying 1,900 kilometers of underwater pipes from Israel to Greece.
Additionally,Bonatti is exploring potential projects in Germany for converting coal-fired power plants to gas.
